BBB Online Reliability Program

Here's what charities and non-profits are saying about our car donation service...

I would like to thank you for your assistance and guidance in setting up the KPBS Vehicle Donation Program. As you know, it has succeeded beyond anyone's expectations.

RV Donations

RV giving is a great idea. Why? Because there's a strong secondary market for them. Over the years, RVs have progressed from trailer-like vehicles that contain a bed and a little storage space to full-blown "homes on wheels". You can find RVs of every type, from campers to fifth wheels to motorhomes to high-end luxury recreational vehicles that celebrities travel in, and they all make suitable donations.

You may have loved your RV when you first bought it, but unless you're a real aficionado and in it for the long haul, your RV might now seem like a lead weight. After all, the gas mileage (or more properly, the diesel mileage) is low compared to other forms of transportation, speeds tend to be slower (you often have to trail behind semis in the slow lane), and they are not very maneuverable. Storage can be an issue too, since not all properties have parking space for a big RV.

But the pleasure of taking all the comforts of home with you wherever you decide to travel can make it all worthwhile. Turning your weekend companion into a toy hauler donation may be the last thing on your mind, but when it's time, it's time. And knowing that your motorhome donation will be something good for the less fortunate is a great feeling. Giving your RV for causes to benefit others - this can benefit you in many ways as well.

When you're ready to donate RV pickup is easy. All it takes is just a phone call, and suddenly, your life is less complicated. We take the donated RV off your hands. You save a considerable chunk of change you'd have paid to the government. And, you avoid the hassle of trying to sell the RV yourself.

Many types of recreational vehicle donations have a good chance of being accepted. These might include a tent trailer donation, a camper donation, or a fifth wheel donation. There are also conversion van donations. (These are sort of like an RV, but are converted from the common van body style, and were very popular in the late 1900's.)

Although this can be a very hassle-free process, make sure that when you're ready to donate motorhome storage areas are cleaned out. You're just wanting to donate an RV. You may not want to also make a construction equipment donation, for example.

Motorcycle Donations

Now that we've talked about the car boat RV donation programs, keep in mind there are other types of vehicles you can donate.

Why are motorcycle donations a good idea? Many years ago, motorcycles were little more than motorized bicycles. Some of today's motorcycles have water-cooled, six-cylinder engines with more horsepower than a car, and even trailer hitches. We've come a long way, and motorcycle prices reflect the advancements. Motorcycles are used as a second car by some people, and like cars, motorcycles can be donated.

Motorcycle donations are not as common as other vehicle giving, but they are becoming increasingly mainstream. Harley Davidson motorcycles are now very popular, unlike in the late 1900's, when Japanese motorcycles ruled. There's still a fairly wide distinction between V-Twin motorcycles (with the deep rumbling sound) and straight-4 cylinder motorcycles, although Japanese makers have adopted the V-Twin for many of their motorcycle models.

Dirt bikes and trail bikes have smaller displacement engines, often 2-stroke (versus 4-stroke for most street bikes), and are less costly (and some would say more fun). They typically accumulate more wear and tear, and therefore are not as desirable at auction. But they can still make good donations.

Airplane Giving

Technically, airplanes are vehicles, although chances are most people don't think of airplanes when considering vehicle giving. A much smaller percentage of the population owns airplanes, meaning there is a smaller market for them, and airplanes tend to have a longer life, thereby reducing the likelihood that they will be scrapped. However, like any other mode of transportation, they get bought and sold on a regular basis, and even 40 year old airplanes make good candidates for donation and may bring a good value at auction.
